As women living in 2019, the world around us shouts so many different things that we should be. Some believe looking a certain way, talking a certain way or parenting a certain way is the RIGHT way. Every person has their own opinion about something. Many young moms and seasoned ones might wonder and question, “Who am I supposed to be as a woman? Which outlet do I listen to?” God knows exactly who you should be and with His foundation you can become who you were always meant to be.
Proverbs 31:30 states,
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
According to God’s Word, being a smooth talker or having the best wardrobe still doesn’t make you a great woman. It states that a woman who fears Him is a woman who is worthy of praise.
The word “fear”, when understood from a biblical context, means “to be in awe or to have reverence for the Lord.” This would mean that a woman who builds a life that has her eyes fixed on Jesus and all of His goodness will be a woman who is worthy of praise. This woman will walk with Him daily and through the Holy Spirit will be obedient to Him.
The special thing about this sort of praise she will receive is that it is an eternal praise. It is not a, “Hey, look I get more Facebook likes now!” or “I win a bunch of awards now!” sort of praise. This is a praise where those walking with Christ daily will see you as a person who carries grace, kindness and love with you because of your relationship with Jesus. This praise will be the peace that God plants in your heart and that He sees your labor and the way you seek Him with your whole heart. This praise will often be quiet and may not get plastered for the whole world to see but God, who is in secret, will know. This kind of praise can and will lead others to follow in your godly footsteps.
There is a key to being a woman who is filled up. There is a way to be confident in each step you take because you know who holds your hand. You can be a woman who carries so much joy and satisfaction that you mark every person you encounter. The answer is to build your life upon the truth that Jesus died and rose again so you can experience receiving a new heart and a relationship with the God that made you! This is the only way you can daily be in awe and wonder of God that you desire to seek Him. If you have done this, ask God to renew you in your identity as his child so that you can be a Proverbs 31 woman. You can experience the contentment a woman has when she finds her worth in Christ.
