Mondays are never easy for anyone. As someone whose main workday during the week is Sunday, it’s difficult having energy for Monday. At the end of the day I often feel tired and ready for the day to be over. Instead of finishing my day by sitting on the couch and watching tv, I finish my day by meeting with a small group of believers, eating dinner, and studying God’s Word. As an extrovert, nothing gives me more energy or joy than being with other people. The moments where I understand and meet God is by listening and spending time with others.
My husband, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. People do not give him energy. Instead music is often the way he worships and focuses on the Lord. My grandmother meets with God by serving. Nothing gives her more pleasure than feeling God’s presence as she cooks for others or loves on children.
When do you feel closest to God’s presence in your life? Is it out in nature, walking in the beautiful creation he made? Or maybe meeting with God by finding a quiet space in your home to read the Bible. God invites each of us into his presence every day to meet with him in the best way for us.
Whenever we read Psalms, we are often reminded of the goodness of being in the presence of the Lord.
In Psalm 84:1-2 we read,
“How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.”
In Psalm 27:8 we read,
“My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
This week I encourage you to find the most fulfilling way for you to dwell in God’s presence. There is nothing greater than being near him. It’s there that we find rest and restoration within our busy soul.
