There is something about this time of year that brings renewed life and enthusiasm in many homes. The beginning of school brings with it purchases of backpacks and school supplies, with some getting new clothes. Students are anxious to step up a grade with the optimism that they can achieve at another level. Teachers are tediously preparing their lesson plans and classrooms with hopes of instilling instruction that will enable students to reach their full potential. Fall school sports begin practices with high hopes for a championship season. Recreation fields are full of children clamoring for opportunities to kick a ball, run a ball or throw a ball. This season offers a fresh start for all!
Do you need a fresh start? The summer heat may have thrown you into a summer slump. Maybe your health has caused you to lose focus and joy. Or possibly a broken relationship has led you to stop believing in others. Whatever the circumstance that has knocked you down, our God has the power to lift you up!
The Psalmist spoke of God’s ability to give us a new beginning. He writes,
“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life….Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails! Psalm 51:8,9 (The Message)
The amazing grace of our wonderful God invites you to let Him give you a fresh start today. Wherever you may find yourself at the close of this summer, turn your struggles or hopeless situation over to Him. His shoulders are broad, His strength endures and His love is unconditional. Our God is able, when we are unable. It’s never too late to begin again. You don’t have to be a parent, teacher or student to enjoy the winds of a new season in your sails. It’s available for you. Just ask Him!
